EN| LusoPhonies Collection was on display at the 14th edition of the Contemporary Istanbul (CI) art fair, held at Istanbul Congress Center and Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Center from 12th to 15th September. This year, the modern and contemporary art fair in Turkey, CI opens it’s doors to the public offering a range of diversity from an exceptional artistic scene, presented by more than 74 galleries from 23 countries.
This year's edition brings together galleries from all over the world, with Turkey as a strategic point between the European and Asian continents. CI's vast cultural programme includes "Recent Acquisitions", a section dedicated to the most recent artistic acquisitions of the project's collectors, "Collectors' Stories" aimed at collectors and their artworks stories from their own collections, amongst other projects. It offers a connection between Portuguese, African and South American cultures, with the special involvement of Chilean artists.
AKAA - Also Known As Africa | Paris | 09.11 > 11.11.2019
EN| Perve Galeria will be present at the 4th edition of the AKAA, the art fair in France devoted to African contemporary art that returns to Carreau du Temple (Paris) from 9th to 11th November.
Since its first edition in 2016, AKAA stands for a multifaceted Africa, foregrounding artists of the diaspora as well as others from diverse origins with a personal link to the continent. This year’s edition will host 44 exhibitors and intends to highlight the artistic quality of African works and emphasize its impact. The event can be seen as a contemporary art map, bringing all attention to the territory, placing Africa in its center.
Following the success of the LusoPhonies Collection exhibition in Turkey, Istanbul, at the TomTom Kirmizi building and Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair. Sequenced by Ankara, displaying at the Portuguese Embassy in Turkey and Fada gallery in Bilkent University last month, Perve Galeria focused on the artworks of Portuguese-speaking countries and communities since the Portuguese dictatorship period to the present days,
now a selection of artists will be featured at AKAA Art Fair in Paris. Thereby, the distinctive and unique artworks from Ernesto Shikhani and Malangatana, from Mozambique, Manuel Figueira and Tchalé Figueira, both from Cape-Vert and José Chambel from Sao Tome e Principe will be displayed alongside with Reinata Sadimba, also from Mozambique, and Manuela Jardim, from Guinea Bissau.

PT | Depois da muito bem-sucedida participação na feira 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, em Nova Iorque, no início do mês, a Perve Galeria regressa à feira de arte de Lisboa, JustLX, que abre portas ao público, no Museu da Carris, entre 16 e 19 de maio.
Em paralelo, já no dia 17 de maio, às 22h00 dá-se a reabertura da Perve Galeria 2, em Alcântara, agora renomeada "aPGn2 - a PiGeon too". O ato inaugural do espaço faz-se com a mostra coletiva “Ante.Visão” dedicada à reformulação programática do espaço e ao surrealismo internacional. Em junho, a mostra em causa será reconfigurada para integrar um amplo ciclo comemorativo, que na capital assinala os 70 anos da primeira exposição d’ “Os Surrealistas” em Portugal.
Na feira de arte, o projeto da galeria incide sobre o sul global, contando com trabalhos de seis artistas da África lusófona e América do Sul: Ernesto Shikhani e Reinata Sadimba (Moçambique), Tchalé Figueira (Cabo Verde), José Chambel (São Tomé e Príncipe), Ivan Villalobos (Chile) e Javier Félix (Colômbia).
Nesta segunda edição, a Just Lx consagra uma ampla secção à arte contemporânea africana, onde inequivocamente se evidencia a pintura de Ernesto Shikhani, já falecido, e a obra escultórica da histórica artista da tribo maconde, Reinata Sadimba, que virá a Portugal para marcar presença no evento.
Concede-se igual destaque a Cruzeiro Seixas, fundador do surrealismo em Portugal, que verá a sua obra exposta no certame, em jeito de homenagem.
Javier Félix concretiza uma instalação de grande escala, produzida especificamente para a feira de arte, para uma das viaturas que o Museu da Carris alberga na sua coleção.
A exposição “Ante.Visão” integra o programa paralelo da Just LX e um movimento mais amplo que, ao longo da semana da arte reflete, em diferentes espaços da cidade, a contemporaneidade artística africana.

EN | After a successful participation in 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in New York earlier this month, Perve Galeria returns to Lisbon fair, JustLX, which opens to the public from 16 to 19 May, at the Carris Museum.
In parallel, on May 18, Perve Galeria 2 is reopened, in Alcântara, but now renamed "aPGn2 - a PiGeon too". The inaugural act hosts the collective exhibition "Ante.Visão" devoted to the programmatic reformulation of space and to the international surrealism. In June, this exhibition will be reconfigured to form part of an extensive commemorative cycle, which celebrates the 70th anniversary of the first exhibition of The Surrealists in Portugal.
In the art fair, the gallery's project focuses the global south, with artworks by six artists from Lusophone Africa and South America: Ernesto Shikhani and Reinata Sadimba (Mozambique), Tchalé Figueira (Cape Verde), José Chambel (São Tomé and Prince), Ivan Villalobos (Chile) and Javier Félix (Colombia).
In this second edition, Just Lx devotes a large section to contemporary African art, where the painting of Ernesto Shikhani, (already deceased), is unmistakably highlighted as well as the sculptural work of the historical artist of the Maconde tribe, Reinata Sadimba, who will come to Portugal to attend the event.
It is also highlighted Cruzeiro Seixas, founder of surrealism in Portugal, who will see his work exposed in the show, as a tribute.
Javier Félix makes a large-scale installation, produced specifically for the art fair, for one of the vehicles that the Carris Museum holds in its collection.
The exhibition "Ante.Visão" is part of the parallel program of Just LX and a broader movement that, throughout the art week, reflects the contemporary African art in different spaces in the city.

Born in Mozambique, Ernesto Shikhani spent his entire life on the African continent and his artistic work has always reflected a concern with the problems of contemporary societies of the era in which he lived (Mozambican war of independence and the sequent civil war). 27 artworks will be exhibited in this art fair. This solo exhibition intends reveal for the first time in USA the amazing and unique work of Ernesto Shikhani, giving an overview to his artistic evolution made alongside with the history of is African homeland, Mozambique.
Perve Galeria's returns to 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, now in the U.S.A and is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under the Incentive System for Internationalization of SMEs.
