PT | Participando na secção África em Foco da prestigiada feira de arte contemporânea ARCO Lisboa, a Perve Galeria irá destacar as mestres moçambicanas Reinata Sadimba (1945) e Teresa Roza d'Oliveira (1945-2019), duas mulheres cuja obra reflete a rebelião contra os ditames societais patriarcais. Encorajando o ato de repensar a imagem de África, a exposição contará também com a fotografia de José Chambel (1969, São Tomé e Príncipe), cuja produção se centra na preservação do património cultural.
Sublinha-se a importância da arte lusófona no contexto da arte contemporânea, explorando as distintas expressões artísticas que nascem do continente africano e da sua diáspora.
Após a muito bem sucedida participação na edição de 2022 da JustLX, a Perve Galeria regressa ao Centro de Congressos de Lisboa, com uma exposição centrada na produção artística latino-americana, com obras de Ivan Villalobos (1975, Chile) e Javier Félix (1976, Espanha/Colômbia), e na arte africana, com dois autores angolanos aclamados no domínio literário, José Eduardo Agualusa (1960) e Valter Hugo Mãe (1971), que desenvolvem também trabalhos artísticos no campo da fotografia e das artes plásticas. Nesta exposição serão reveladas, de forma inédita, obras realizadas colaborativamente entre os dois autores, a partir de um desafio proposto por Carlos Cabral Nunes. A mostra será ainda pontuada com obras de Cruzeiro Seixas (1920-2020, Portugal), Samuel Muankongue (1974, Moçambique) e Bogdan Gulyay (1980, Ucrânia), a título de apoio e homenagem à Ucrânia.
ENG | Participating in the Africa in Focus section of the renowned contemporary art fair ARCO Lisboa, Perve Galeria will highlight the Mozambican masters Reinata Sadimba (1945) and Teresa Roza d'Oliveira (1945-2019), two women whose artworks reflect the rebellion against patriarchal societal dictates. Encouraging the act of rethinking the image of Africa, the exhibition will also feature the photography of José Chambel (1969, São Tomé and Príncipe), whose artistic production focuses on the preservation of cultural heritage.
The significance of Lusophone art within the contemporary art scene is thus underlined, exploring the distinct artistic expressions emanating from the African continent and its diaspora.
Following a very successful participation in the 2022 edition of JustLx, Perve Galeria returns to the Lisbon Congress Center, with an exhibition representing Latin American artistic production, with artworks by Ivan Villalobos (1975, Chile) and Javier Félix (1976, Spain/Colombia), and in African art, with two Angolan authors, José Eduardo Agualusa (1960) and Valter Hugo Mãe (1971), who have garnered acclaim in the literary realm but have developed artistic work in the field of photography and plastic arts. Here, it will be unprecedentedly unveiled the collaborative artworks that these two authors created in response to a challenge proposed by Carlos Cabral Nunes. This exhibition will also feature the artworks of Cruzeiro Seixas (1920-2020, Portugal), Samuel Muankongue (1974, Mozambique) and Bogdan Gulyay (1980, Ukraine), in support of and in tribute to Ukraine.

De 23 a 26 de fevereiro de 2023, a Perve Galeria estará presente no Stand E9 da feira JustMAD, no Palácio Neptuno, em Madrid. A exposição, com curadoria de Carlos Cabral Nunes, será dedicada a seis artistas. Estes sendo, Bogdan Gulyay (n. 1980, Ucrânia), que ainda reside e trabalha na Ucrânia mesmo com o decorrer da guerra; Ivan Villalobos (n. 1979, Chile), que será o próximo artista a realizar uma residência artística em Portugal. Seguidamente, Javier Félix (1976, Espanha/Colômbia), cuja instalação do ano passado, Hoje é um Bom Dia Para Viver (tributo à vida) foi inaugurada no primeiro dia da invasão russa à Ucrânia; José Chambel (1969, São Tomé & Príncipe), artista africano objeto de destaque no VIP Lounge na Feira de Arte contemporânea africana Akaa e a prestigiada Reinata Sadimba (1945, Moçambique) que estará presente na feira, no âmbito do programa VIP, para realizar um trabalho performativo.
A Perve Galeria fará especial homenagem a Reinata Sadimba. Em criança, a sua mãe introduziu-a à cerâmica de objetos utilitários que Reinata adaptou à sua criatividade. Na adolescência, Reinata Sadimba fez parte da frente da Libertação Nacional de Moçambique, luta contra o governo colonial português que possibilitou a sua independência em 1974. Em 1975, após se divorciar, a artista revolucionou o seu trabalho e passou a acrescentar elementos próprios às suas obras. As suas peças refletem profundamente um universo matrilinear Makonde, reconfigurado por uma experiência pessoal dolorosa e uma imaginação fértil, abordando, de maneira tradicional e moderna, os temas da identidade social e individual - particularmente das mulheres, bem como a conexão primordial com a terra. Do seu vasto leque de trabalhos a Perve Galeria promove, pela primeira vez, um destaque digno à artista que ainda hoje produz trabalhos memoráveis.

From 23 to 26 February 2023, Perve Galeria will be present at Stand E9 of the JustMAD fair, at Palacio Neptuno, in Madrid. The exhibition, curated by Carlos Cabral Nunes, will be dedicated to six artists. These being, Bogdan Gulyay (b. 1980, Ukraine), who still lives and works in Ukraine even with the passing of the war; Ivan Villalobos (b. 1979, Chile), who will be the next artist to do a residence in Portugal. Then, Javier Félix (1976, Spain/Colombia), whose installation from last year, Hoje é um Bom Dia Para Viver (tributo à vida) was inaugurated on the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine; José Chambel (1969, São Tomé & Príncipe), African artist featured in the VIP Lounge at the African contemporary art fair Akaa and the prestigious Reinata Sadimba (1945, Mozambique) who will be present at the fair as part of the VIP programme to perform a performance work.
Perve Galeria will pay special tribute to Reinata Sadimba. As a child, her mother introduced her to ceramics of utilitarian objects that Reinata adapted to her creativity. As a teenager, Reinata Sadimba was part of the Mozambican National Liberation Front, a struggle against the Portuguese colonial government that made independence possible in 1974. In 1975, after her divorce, the artist revolutionised her work and started adding her own elements to her works. Her pieces deeply reflect a Makonde matrilineal universe, reconfigured by painful personal experience and a fertile imagination, addressing, in traditional and modern ways, the themes of social and individual identity - particularly of women, as well as the primordial connection with the land. From her vast range of work Perve Galeria promotes, for the first time, a worthy highlight of the artist who still produces memorable work today.

Perve Galeria x AKAA - Also Known As Africa | 21.10 > 23.10.2022

PT | A Perve Galeria apresenta na 7ª edição da maior feira de arte africana em França - AKAA (Also Known As Africa) - uma seleção de obras de importantes artistas, como Alberto Chissano, um dos mais importantes escultores moçambicanos da sua geração, Bertina Lopes, artista cujo trabalho foi apresentado este ano numa exposição individual em Roma na galeria Richard Saltoun, Ernesto Shikhani e Malangatana Ngwenya, autores recentemente integrados na colecção do Centro Georges Pompidou com obras de arte da Perve Galeria.
No campo da fotografia destacamos a presença de José Chambel, artista apresentado no VIP Lounge do AKAA 2021, com a sua mais recente série intitulada "Le Ministre" e Ricardo Rangel, autor considerado o pai da fotografia documental e artística dos países africanos de língua oficial portuguesa.
A mostra inclui também duas grandes mestres, ambas moçambicanas, dos anos 1940 - Reinata Sadimba e Teresa Roza d'Oliveira. Também presentes no VIP Lounge do AKAA 2022, dão a conhecer num contexto internacional, num diálogo sem precedentes entre a cerâmica e a pintura, o panorama artístico africano contemporâneo e o importante papel dos artistas e especialmente das mulheres, na luta pelos direitos do género.
A este grupo de artistas representativos da arte africana contemporânea, Perve Galeria apresenta, pela primeira vez em Paris, a revelação internacional de um mestre moçambicano cuja obra de arte caiu num esquecimento inexplicável e que, felizmente, está a ser recuperada recentemente, através de um documentário, "Pintor Independente", realizado por Diogo Varela Silva, exibido no Doclisboa, e uma exposição na ZDB. João Ayres.
O projecto consiste na criação de um diálogo entre vários autores da colecção de Lusofonias, com uma presença feminina relevante e numa linguagem ligada a novas e diversas formas de criação figurativa. O conceito consiste em revelar um panorama da diversidade no panorama artístico africano contemporâneo.
EN | Perve Galeria presents at the 7th edition of the largest African art fair in France - AKAA (Also Known As Africa) - a selection of artworks by important artists, such as Alberto Chissano, one of the most important Mozambican sculptors of his generation, Bertina Lopes, artist whose work was featured this year in a solo exhibition in Rome at the Richard Saltoun gallery, Ernesto Shikhani and Malangatana Ngwenya, authors recently integrated in the collection of the Georges Pompidou Centre with artworks from Perve Galeria.
In the field of photography we highlight the presence of José Chambel, artist featured in the VIP Lounge of AKAA 2021, with his most recent series entitled "Le Ministre" and Ricardo Rangel, author considered the father of documentary and artistic photography of the Portuguese-speaking African countries.
The show also includes two great masters, both Mozambican, from the 1940's - Reinata Sadimba and Teresa Roza d'Oliveira. Also featured in the VIP Lounge at AKAA 2022, they make known in an international context, in an unprecedented dialogue between ceramics and painting, the contemporary African artistic panorama and the important role of artists and especially women, in the fight for gender rights.
To this group of representative artists of contemporary African art, Perve Galeria presents, for the first time in Paris, the international revelation of a Mozambican master whose artwork has fallen into an inexplicable oblivion and who, fortunately, is being recovered recently, through a documentary film, "Independent Painter", directed by Diogo Varela Silva, shown at Doclisboa, and a show at ZDB. The project consists in creating a dialogue between several authors from the Lusophonies collection, with a relevant female presence and in a language linked to new and diverse forms of figurative creation. The concept is to reveal a panorama of diversity in the contemporary African artistic panorama.

Temos também o prazer de anunciar que, pelo 2.º ano consecutivo, a Perve Galeria foi a selecionada para expor no VIP Lounge C6, com um projeto curatorial inédito de diálogo entre duas importantes mestres moçambicanas - Teresa Roza d'Oliveira (1945-2019, Moçambique) e Reinata Sadimba (n. 1945, Moçambique).
